Katie’s musical journey has been shaped by artistic curiosity and a passion for connecting with others through song. On stage, she has brought her artistry to such operatic roles as Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Frasquita in Carmen, and Nannetta in Falstaff. She has appeared as a featured soloist with the Calgary Civic Symphony, the Calgary Korean Canadian Choir, the Instrumental Society of Calgary, Calgary Concert Opera, Opera Lirica, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. 

 

Katie’s passion extends beyond operatic studies to recital work and the intimate sharing of song. In 2021 she immersed herself in the rich tradition of Latin American and Iberian art song at the Barcelona Festival of Song where she explored and performed art songs by Chiquinha Gonzaga, María Grever, Babi de Oliveira, and Anna Cazurra.

 

Another meaningful musical exploration has been her ongoing study of Korean art song. As a featured soloist with The Calgary Korean Canadian Choir, under the baton of conductor Hana Kyung-Hui Kim, Katie has had the honour of performing celebrated art songs such as얼굴 (Eolgul), 신아리랑 (Arirang), 그리운 금강산 (Gueriun Geumgangsan), and  동심초 (Dongsimcho). 

 

Katie was awarded top prize in the 2013 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions - Western Canada, as well as the People's Choice Award. She was further recognized as an award recipient at the 2014 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions - Northwest Regional Auditions. In addition to earning a Diploma in Voice Performance from Mount Royal University, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Ambrose University, and a Master’s Degree in Opera Performance from the University of British Columbia, she has trained at The Centre for Opera Studies in Sulmona, Italy and the European Music Academy in Teplice, Czech Republic.
